Crikey! Looking forward to seeing the results - glad there's a guinea pig in the climbing world ;)

All the best,

Awesome, hopefully we'll start seeing some HD output from climbing vid producers. The Red, or any HD camera, won't make much difference if the final product is still standard def...

I'm definitely going to do a Blu-Ray release of my next film. The cool part about shooting in a good format is that the results actually do make a difference... even when you compress to Youtube you can see the difference, but it's certainly much more pronounced if the footage is coming off a HD playback media.

The Red One shoots 4K, recording about 6 to 8 times more data than typical HD.

Cheers,

Chuck

Chuck: How did you learn all that you know about movies WHILE being a badass climber? I'd love to hear more of your story.

Google "blu ray licensing" and read what comes up - there's reasons why indie prods don't do blu-ray. Also how many climbers have blu-ray players and HDTV's, and how many computers can play blu-ray DVD's? Answer to both is Practically None. Any computer, on the other hand, with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 and a decent graphics card, can play HD QuickTime movies, which you can burn to a normal DVD disc. And you can still hook the computer up to your HDTV if you have one. Also unless you're doing PAL versions of your vids, the Europeans have to watch them on computers anyway, right? The way to get your stuff out in HD is to either make them available as 720p downloads, or distribute them on normal DVDs as computer-playable-only 720p QT movies.

Good to hear on your plans about the next one! Seen some really great footage from the Red and it's about time climbing movies take the next step to HD.

a bit puzzled about joe's no-no-dont-attitude, but I guess some are hard to please :D

I for one, am really looking forward to a Blu-Ray release!
